Mark Harper appointed as new Secretary of State for Transport

The Rt Hon Mark Harper has been appointed Secretary of State for Transport, effective 25 October.

He replaces the Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan – who was only appointed in September – as part of incoming Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Cabinet reshuffle.

Harper, who is MP for the Forest of Dean and a chartered accountant by trade, previously served as Chief Whip (Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury) and has held ministerial posts for Political and Constitutional Reform, Immigration and Disabled People.
