I have received a Penalty Charge Notice, what should I do?

If you have received a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) from one of the councils in the civil enforcement scheme, PATROL will help you deal with it in the appropriate way. PATROL can show you how to pay the PCN. It can also show you how to challenge the PCN, if you believe that there is a reason why you should not have to pay it. However PATROL can only do this for a PCN issued by councils in the civil enforcement scheme. To check if your council is in the scheme use the search below, if they are not see 'what PATROL does not cover'

Search for a Participating Council

The Traffic Management Act 2004 (as the Road Traffic Act 1991 before it) enables councils to take over most parking enforcement - including yellow-line enforcement - from the police. (see parking regulations)

If you wish wish to find out where you are in the process please see 'What should you do now?' below.
